    Wandiyali Environa~Conservation Area

The Wandiyali Restoration Trust ensures the long term protection of the natural environment at this site which sits next to Jerrabomberra and near to the township of Googong. Queanbeyan Landcare’s interest in preserving, restoring and enhancing the biodiversity of this quality patch of habitat began in late 2023.

Queanbeyan Landcare has been involved with caring for Bicentennial Park since 1995. The current friends group, which emerged in 2014, has a strong commitment to letting natural plant regeneration take place at the park.

  • Fernleigh Park

The local Fernleigh Park Landcare group was established in 2002 with the aim of undertaking extensive planting programs along Jerrabomberra Creek and the streets that stretch throughout the Park to create a corridor of connected vegetation. Weeding, spraying, watering and fencing are regularly undertaken to ensure the ongoing success of the plantings.

  • Mt Jerrabomberra & Stringy Bark Ridge

Community groups have been involved with the care and management of Mount Jerrabomberra since the 2004 Plan of Management was released. They have conducted small and large group plantings, weeding and maintenance of the trails. Members have also led informative walks.

The Friends of Queanbeyan River are working now to rehabilitate and improve a major vegetation corridor planted in 2019 that stretches along the Queanbeyan River between Morriset Street and the NSW-ACT border at the railway bridge at Oaks Estate. This group also maintains the Outdoor Classroom on Thorpe Avenue.

  • 2021 and 2019 Survey of Aprasia parapulchella

The 1.8 hectare Fairlane Fauna and Flora Reserve on River Drive, Fairlane was identified as a habitat for the Pink-tailed Legless Lizard (Aprasia parapulchella).
