Barracks Creek Reserve will again be the site of a National Tree Day event planned by QPRC and Queanbeyan Landcare. Like last year, we will be planting along the eastern edge of Barracks Creek, in the area north of Barracks Creek Drive, across from the Barracks Flat Neighbourhood Park.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY

We meet 9.30am at the Morisset Street low level Crossing on the Queanbeyan River. Queanbeyan Landcare has participated in every year of CUAD. As well as rubbish, this year we may also be collecting old tree guards and stakes from advanced trees and shrubs on the River.

On the 23rd February we would welcome your assistance for weeding, planting more Carex and saying hello to the Water Dragon and perhaps the Platypus at the Outdoor Classroom off Thorpe Avenue. Meet near the river downstream of Glebe Park on Thorpe Avenue. Please bring gloves and tools if you have any although we always have a few extras.

We would welcome your help weeding along the river. Park on Thorpe Avenue and walk downstream from Glebe Park (towards the Suspension Bridge). The weeding here is easy but does require gloves. We have a few extra tools if needed and there is always time for a chat and some cake at the end.

WORKING BEE - Riverside near Dane Street

We will meet at 8.30am at the end of Dane Street and walk a short distance to the planting site. As well as planting we may look at caring for the trees that Council has planted and removing a few weeds. Please join us if you are able (there will be working groups on both weekdays and weekends in 2024), bring gloves and any useful tool although we will have a few extras available.

WALK & TALK - BICENTENNIAL PARK

Walk and talk at Bicentennial Park lead by Helen Hadobas, with Bill Willis and Tom Baker. Learn about the history of the Park, identify the native plants and orchids. The walk will start from the Crest Park Parade carpark, near the flagpole hill. Lots of parking at this place.
