Clean Up Australia Day

Queanbeyan Landcare has participated in every Clean Up Australia Day since its inception in 1989. For the last few years volunteers have concentrated on the Queanbeyan River starting at the low level bridge on Morisset Street.

2025

10 people volunteered to clean up along the river downstream from the Morriset Street Bridge. A dozen bags of rubbish were removed by this group and the group organised by QPRC who were based at the Queen Elizabeth Park. Members in canoes were a valuable addition.

2024

Rubbish collected included 8 bags of rubbish, 5 shopping trolleys, 2 tyres and numerous plastic bottles. 13 volunteers including 3 in kayaks or canoes assisted.

2023

Tom Baker and 14 locals helped collect about 10 bags of rubbish. They met up afterwards for a BBQ with other community groups hosted by QPRC.

2022

Heavy rainfall and unsafe water levels meant the clean-up could not take place along the river. Tom Baker and several volunteers joined other community groups working in other areas of the town.
